Optimists - Who Are We?

Our Mission Statement: By providing hope and positive vision, Optimists "bring out the best in kids!"
We are one of the oldest local community service groups, and member of Optimist International.
We have been the 'friend of area youth' since 1947 through our positive community service projects.
We are your friends, neighbors, family, community and business leaders. We are Optimists!
We strive to make a difference in the lives of others by responding to the unique needs of Duluth.

Join us and make a difference in the lives of 30 new kids!
It's true! Each new Optimist member means our Club can serve an additional thirty area kids in a variety of ways! That's especially important during these difficult economic times. Want to learn more about giving back to your community? Come to one of our Tuesday Noon meetings, talk to a member or click the Become a Member link!

The Optimist Creed
Promise Yourself . . . .
. . . to be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.
. . . to talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person you meet.
. . . to make all your friends feel that there is something in them.
. . . to look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true.
. . . to think only of the best, to work only for the best and to expect only the best.
. . . to be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.
. . . to forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.
. . . to wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile.
. . . to give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others.
. . . to be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.
- Christian Larson, 1912

Did You Know . . . ?
. . . that a Founding Member (1947) of the Duluth Noon Optimist Club is still active in our Club?! He's our good friend, Don Freimuth, and he still keeps us on our toes!
. . . that the Optimist International Foundation provides over $175,000 in annual scholarships to students around the world?!
. . . that the Duluth Noon Optimist Club built several of the camper cabins at the Duluth Area Family YMCA's Camp Miller on Sturgeon Lake?!
"A different world cannot be built by indifferent people." - Peter Marshall
